Lets take insulin for example. It’s what keeps those with blood sugar issues from spiking to either have too low of blood sugar or too high of blood sugar. This is also a medication that is required to be kept cold. If we still had the same technology they did before the 1950’s, medications like insulin would not be effective. Those with diabetes would be in a world of trouble.
Amoxicillin is another great example. It needs to be stored either in a refrigerator or at a room temperature of between 70 and 75. Amoxicillin helps to fight bacterial infections such as pneumonia, tonsillitis, bronchitis and infections of the ear, nose, throat, skin, or urinary tract. Without amoxicillin, a lot of people would die due to complications with pneumonia. Our world would be a much different place.
There are many more medications that are required to either be stored in temperatures of between 70 and 75 degrees, developed in these cooler temperatures and/or both. Because of air conditioning, we are able to rid ourselves of bacterial infections, keep our blood sugar levels balanced and so much more from the medical world. All in all, modern medicine has air conditioning to thank for its success.
